Questions about ECT

Hi everyone, so here it goes I have been on every medication out there, tried everything. Just found out my thyroid is messed up due to all the lithium i took for so long and now that i can no longer take again because of it. Last time i was in the hospital (which also happened to be the state) was 2 weeks ago and thats when they took me off pretty much everything except an increase of my Seroquel XR. Now thats the and topomax is the only meds im on and im no better/worse then before. Ive done some research on ECT and know it can affect short term memory. Just how bad and does it work or is it like everything else ( that it depends on the person)? The closest place to have it done is across the state cuz i live in a very densly populatated state so any advice would be great!
