Something my mental health worker organised was for my kids to go to a holiday program for kids with parents who have a mental illness. They went two days last week and yesterday and today.
They had one day that they learnt circus tricks and did arts and crafts
They went to movies another day, rock climbing another.
Today They came home with bags each with awesome masks that they made, and worksheets learning about mental illness
I have to say I am impressed by what they have bought home and learnt today at this program. They have heaps of worksheets, comics etc explaining bipolar and emotions and they told me they watched a great video about a boy whose dad has bipolar.
It's good and has opened the lines of communication about it that little bit more.
A great experience, not only for the fun side for them but a learning one too ;)
